Evaluate the determinants in Exercise 1 and 2.

5. Evaluate the determinants

⇒ |A| = 1(-9+12)-1(-18+15)-2(8-5)

⇒ |A| = 0

7. Find values of x, if

⇒ 2-20 = 2x2-24

⇒ -18 = 2x2-24

⇒ 2x2 = 24-18 = 6

⇒ x2 = 3

⇒ x = ±√3

⇒ 10-12 = 5x-6x

⇒ -2 = -x

⇒ x = 2

(A) 6     (B) ±6     (C) -6     (D) 0

⇒ x2 - 36 = 36 - 36

⇒ x2 = 36

⇒ x = ±6

Answer is ……… B.
